American Recovery and Reinvestment Act - Texas A&M Research and Development Information

Total Awards for Texas A&M University & A&M System Agencies as of 11/9/09: $45,812,499

Full Story

(Last ARRA Update by JH: 11/18/2009)

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) is an effort to jump-start our economy, create or save millions of jobs, and put a down payment on addressing long-neglected challenges so our country can thrive in the 21st century. With much at stake, the Act provides unprecedented levels of transparency and accountability so that you will know how, when, and where your tax dollars are being spent. Spearheaded by a new Recovery Board, the Act contains built-in measures to root out waste, inefficiency, and unnecessary spending.

ARRA at Texas A&M University

Welcome to the Division of Research and Graduate Studies’ online guide to research resources being established or augmented by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The new law, designed to stimulate the U.S. economy and create or save millions of jobs, will have a dramatic and far-ranging impact on research and development initiatives throughout the nation. Texas A&M University is excited about the opportunities that ARRA will provide for progress across the full spectrum of the university’s research activities.

The law has set a new standard for transparency and accountability with respect to the expenditure of tax dollars. Texas A&M is fully committed to meeting this standard and to making use of the funds ARRA provides for our research endeavors in the wisest and most responsible ways possible.

The Office of Proposal Development (OPD) is available to support researchers on this campus who need assistance developing and writing proposals seeking ARRA funding.  We strongly encourage you to contact Lucy Deckard, Associate Director, at 845-1811 to request support for your efforts. OPD has extensive experience assisting researchers in the planning, developing, and writing of large institutional infrastructure proposals, center-level proposals, and a broad range of research and educational initiatives seeking funding from NSF, NIH and other major federal research agencies.

How to Use This Website

This website will provide continually updated information on all aspects of the $21.5 billion R&D portion of the recently enacted American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) that will be competitively awarded by federal agencies.  The purpose of the site is to provide researchers with critical updates from federal research agencies on ARRA funding, specifically:

  a. How the ARRA money will be allocated among agencies and within each agency;
  b. The processes used by each agency to award the money; and
  c. Important competitive factors PIs need to be aware of in applying for research funding under the ARRA program.

The major federal agencies receiving R&D funding under ARRA are listed below.  Each agency link will take you to a secondary web page with information specific to ARRA funding for that agency, e.g., funding allocations within the agency, award processes, new solicitations, review criteria, priority areas, and research updates.

Below the list of agency links are general informational links related to the tracking of ARRA web resources and news.

This website will be continually updated for ARRA funding content specific to these agencies by the Office of Proposal Development.

Also available is an ARRA-specific RSS feed, maintained on the OPD website.

Here is an Adobe Reader document with general information from several sources (noted in document) about the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Recovery Act - Webinar Training Materials  (July 28)
To ensure that the public receives as much information as possible on the implementation of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), Federal Agencies and recipients of ARRA funding are required to report dozens of data elements. Because such a wide variety of information is required – and since some elements are being reported for the first time – the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) prepared a series of webinars to train Federal Agencies and recipients of ARRA funding on how to comply with their reporting responsibilities. This series – "Implementing Guidance for the Reports on Use of Funds Pursuant to the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009" – is divided into 7 parts.
