The lecture will be held Friday, March, 7, 2008, in Room 111 of the Koldus Building at Texas A&M University. Lunch will be provided to registrants at 11:45 a.m., and the lecture will begin at noon.
Dr. Chance Lewis is associate professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture, College of Education at Texas A&M University. Dr. Lewis received his doctorate in Education Leadership from Colorado State University. In addition to teaching courses at Texas A&M in urban education, teacher education, culture and curriculum and curriculum and instruction, Dr. Lewis is the deputy director for the Center for African American Research and Policy - a research center for the Brothers of the Academy Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has published many articles/book chapters on the status of African American students and teachers in elementary, secondary, and postsecondary settings.
Dr. Lewis is a co-principal investigator on two National Science Foundation grants totaling over $1.3 million in external research funds.
The First Friday Lecture Series is a program of the African American Professional Organization (AAPO), held the first Friday of the month and sponsored by the Division of Research and Graduate Studies.
