Assistant Research Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:
Specializes in some aspect of science or engineering discipline or design, construction, installation or operation of scientific equipment. Under the direction of a more senior staff member, may carry out assigned experiments, fabrication of specialty parts, the day-to-day maintenance of a laboratory and equipment. Involved in the development of equipment upgrades. This position is characterized by one who collects and compiles data and submits it for future interpretation or analysis. There are limited or no supervisory responsibilities. Participates in development of reports, orders parts and supplies and maintains a stockroom for specialized apparatus.

The nature of the duties are such that they require knowledge of an advanced type in a field of science or learning, are predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent exercise of discretion and judgment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience, plus 5 years experience in a field relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the assignment.

Salary:
Commensurate with experience, but not less than $1,500/month on a full-time basis. Salary is normally paid from research funds.
