Research Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:
Specializes in some aspect of science or engineering discipline or design, construction installation or operation of scientific equipment. Performs assigned tasks with little or no supervision or direction. Responsible for the planning and design of experiments, design of special machinery or other specialty parts. Assumes a consultant relationship with those using the service. This position is characterized by one who is a project director and manages the progress of a project, has responsibility for a budget and the development of any subordinate organization and the application of the policy and procedures of the university and the specific operation unit.

The nature of the duties are such that they require knowledge of an advanced type in a field of science or learning, are predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent exercise of discretion and judgment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience, plus 10 years experience in a field relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the assignment.

Salary:
Commensurate with experience, but not less than $2,500/month on a full-time basis. Salary is normally paid from research funds.
